Unit 6 Reading Response

The Flat Design Era tells about the graphic style that doesn’t use any elements of decorative abstract as well as the use of gradients, reliefs, volumes and realistic. Instead the graphic style uses simple solid shapes and forms. Many apps shown in phones, computers or tablets appears to be flat and has a nice contemporary design with it. If there is too much element mixed with it then it makes it much harder for viewers to see what they want. Skeuomorphism is to borrow features from the past and use them for a different design, more people are slowly moving away from skeuomorphism since iOS was first introduced. Some say flat design is different from skeuomorphism but apparently there is no difference since flat design is skeuomorphic meaning they both are the same.

Designing iOS has three important theme and that’s deference, clarity, and depth. It’s important to understand the content and clarity while they can see legible text and have realistic motions to make it more attractive.

My reaction to both is I often see these kind of design on all types of apps, they design is to ensure legibility, understanding content and creative design to get the users or viewers to understands the purpose of these design.
